Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup 2nd Round

Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup

Saltcoats Victoria 0 Lugar Boswell Thistle 7

Lugar Coast Through At The Seaside

Lugar enjoyed a seven goal romp at the seaside and it could have been double that if they hadn’t taken their foot of the gas in the second half. Injuries to Craig Muir, Scott Eaglesham and Darren McMahon forced Jimsie Kirkland into a few changes. New signing Craig Dickson was given a place in the starting line up along with Alex Duffy.

New signing Craig Dickson.

Right from the outset Lugar’s intentions were clear and they went in front after only 3 minutes. A cross from Andy Boyle was met at the near post and Duffy fired in the first of his hat trick.

Duffy (No 6) takes it first time to fire in the opener.

The ball nestles in the net and it opens the floodgates.

Craig Pettigrew then picked up a loose ball in midfield and the Saltcoats defence backed off him expecting a pass. Pettigrew had other ideas and as he saw the space open up he hammered a shot past the Vics’ keeper.

Duffy got his second when he nipped in at the far post following some entertaining stuff from Boyle who was giving his opponents water oan the heid as he turned them inside out.

Lugar were cruising now and were determined to put on a good show with Patrick Walker and Boyle both coming close to adding to the score, Boyle’s shot smashing off the bar and over.

Saltcoats had no answer and were forced to defend in numbers with hardly an effort on goal to talk about.

Campell McCluskie clears up a rare Vics' attack.

Following a good run down the left Paul Cameron cut inside and got number four just before Duffy finished off his hat trick with Lugar’s fifth goal shortly before the break.

In the second half Thistle seemed to drop down a gear but they still continued to push a helpless Saltcoats back into their own half. Stuart Leavy could have played in a suit and tie for all the work he was asked to do.

Try not to yawn Stuart!

Perhaps the only thing worrying the Lugar faithful was the fact that top scorer Walker had yet to find the back of the net. But he put them at ease when he got his goal 4 minutes after the restart.

Walker turns away after netting number 6.

Boyle and Duffy join the celebration.

Lugar eased off even further now, content that the job was done, they played the ball around without allowing Saltcoats to threaten.  Unfortunately the homesters perceived this as extracting the yellow waste body fluid and they proceeded to loose the plot. The referee allowed far too much leeway in sympathy with the struggling Ayrshire District outfit and tempers boiled over resulting in 2 red cards for the Vics.

Lugar continued to press and kept the goal of the game to near the end.  Mark Doolan collected a ball and with his back to goal he flicked the ball up, turned and fired an unstoppable shot into the onion bag. He doesn't score many but when he does, boy is it worth the wait.

Thanks a lot for giving an idea about Ayrshire's Oldest Junior Club. It was through this post I came to know about these clubs. From the post, I understood that it is a sports club and they have shared something related to sports in the post. Tour Paris Private
