This game was switched from a snow-covered
It looked like a poor switch for Lugar as Troon opened the scoring from their first foray up the park in the first minute. A free kick was swung in from the left and an unmarked Jimmy Creaney rose to head home. Stuart Leavy looked to have pulled off a good save but the ball struck the base of the post, and rebounded off the keepers head and into the net.
Lugar put this set-back behind them and gradually got control off the midfield and were the better side for much of the remainder of the game.
Lugar's equaliser came through sheer determination, Paul Cameron got onto the end off a cross from Andy Boyle and he was unlucky to see his header hit the post, Johnny Scott was first to react and he managed to cut the ball back across the goalmouth for Alex Duffy to fire home from close range.
Half Time 1-1
Troon's woes continued after half time when McCormick was red-carded for improper use of the elbow in a clash with Campbell McCluskie.
Lugar continued to push and it paid off when Duffy got his second. Darren McMahon intercepted a slack pass between 2 Troon defenders and then slotted a perfect ball through to Duffy who calmly picked his spot to put Thistle ahead.
Lugar continued to dominate but couldn't find the killer third goal, and this indeed came back to haunt them as they had to change their midfield when first McMahon had to go off injured followed closely by his midfield partner, Ricky Hanvey. These changes knocked Lugar off their stride and Troon created a few chances of their own, which Lugar seemed to be handling well. Until the last 5 minutes that is, Troon flung everyone forward for a corner and Stevie Watson outjumped his marker at the back post to head home the equaliser.
An even share of the points but Lugar will consider it 2 points lost due to the effort they had put in.
Full Time 2-2
